Microsoft Advisory

Last Updated November 1, 2006

Effective July 11, 2006, Microsoft Corporation ended the support life of Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows Millennium Edition. The only updates that are available for Windows 2000 computers are critical security updates. Also, Microsoft will release no new programs, functionality or updates for Windows 2000. In addition to Microsoft, most other companies, including makers of most popular antivirus and security products, are phasing out their support for these old editions of the Windows operating system.

In November 2006, Microsoft will be posting the new Internet Explorer 7 as a Windows Automatic/Critical Update. This means that during the month of November, if you are running Windows XP, you computer will automatically update itself from IE6 to IE7. In preparation for this, RSC has worked with Marketlinx and Catylist to ensure that all of our systems are compatible with the new IE7. RSC is pleased to say that all of the PPAR/RSC Web Sites, including the PPMLS Tempo System and the Catylist CSCP are now tested and approved to work with Internet Explorer Version 6 and Version 7.

Due to the heightened security in IE7, RSC encourages Members to upgrade soon. RSC has released a customized installation of IE7 that is preconfigured to allow the PPMLS Tempo and Catylist CSCP systems to function correctly. Click here for more information.

Pikes Peak REALTOR® Services Corporation is committed to providing its PPMLS and CSCP participants with state of the art data services in a secure environment. As we look to future upgrades to our current systems, the preceding issues must be considered by each of our Participants.

Marketlinx has begun programming future Tempo™ system upgrades within the new .Net Framework 2.0. environment.  Tempo™  upgrades after the upcoming September 6, 2006 upgrade may require that the .Net Framework version 2 program be installed on users computers for full functionality.

To ensure that future Tempo™ upgrades work correctly on your computer, RSC encourages it’s users to install the .Net Framework version 2 from the Microsoft Windows Update web site. If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows 2000, please consult with your computer technician regarding upgrading your computer to Windows XP and for assistance with downloading the .Net Framework 2.

As always, RSC encourages it’s participants to check daily for updates to their Anti-virus and Internet Security software and to routinely check the Windows Update web site for security updates to their computers.
