Search by Map

Search by Map allows users to outline an area on the map and use that area as part of their Search criteria.

Step 1:      From the Quick Search page, click on Search by Map.

Step 2:      On the right side of the map, you have the option of zooming directly to a City, Zip Code or to a complete address.  To select a City, scroll down the list and click on the city or in the Search for a city box, start typing the name of the city.  When cities matching the text you entered appear, select the city.  After entering the desired information click the Submit button.

Step 3:      Across the bottom of the map you have a series of buttons to Pan, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Zoom to MLS Area, and Original Map Zoom.

To Pan or move the map, click on Pan.  Click and hold down the left button on the mouse,  While holding down the button, drag the map to the top, bottom or either side,.  When you release the mouse button, the white space will be filled in.

Zoom In is the default Map function.  With Zoom In selected, click on the section of the Map that you want to Zoom In to.  The map will zoom in a little more each time you click on the map.   The point of your cursor will be the center of the zoomed in map.  Keep clicking until you have achieved an acceptable view.

Zoom Out is used if you have zoomed in too much and want to zoom out again.  Select Zoom Out and click on the map.  Each time you click on the map it zooms out a little at a time.  The point of your cursor will be the center of the zoomed out map.

Zoom to MLS Area and Original Map Zoom returns to the original map area.

Step 4:      To zoom in quickly to a specific area on the map, draw a box around that area.  Select a corner of the box you are drawing, click and hold the left mouse button and drag the mouse across the screen.  A red outline shows the boundaries of the box.  When the area is outlined, release the mouse button and the map zooms directly to that area.

Step 5:      After zooming in, to set the boundaries of the area to include in your search criteria, you can draw rectangles, polygons or circles on the map.  First click on the button for the desired shape on the bottom of the screen.

To draw a rectangle, select a starting point on the map, press and hold down the left mouse button and while holding it down move your mouse diagonally across the screen.  You will notice a red outline appears showing the area it will zoom to.  When the area is set by the red outline, release the mouse button.  If you want to redraw the box, click on the Cancel button.  The red outlined box disappears but the zoomed in area remains.  Redraw the rectangle and when finished, click the Apply to Search Criteria button.  The map closes and the Quick Search screen is again displayed.

A polygon search is limited to 6 sides.  You must first zoom in to see the area you want to outline.  Click the first point, click the second point, etc.  The red outline follows as you click additional points.  Double click the last point to set the points.  If you want to redraw the box, click on the Cancel button.  The red outlined polygon disappears but the zoomed in area remains.  Redraw and when finished, click the Apply to Search Criteria button.  The map closes and the Quick Search screen is again displayed.

To draw a circle, zoom in to see the desired area.  Click the center of the area you want to draw a circle around.  Move your mouse away from the center of the circle to increase the size of the circle or move the mouse toward the center of the circle to decrease its size.  The radius box below the map shows the radius of the circle in miles.  When the size of the circle is correct, click the left mouse button to set the size.  If you want to redraw the circle, click on the Cancel button. The red outlined circle disappears but the zoomed in area remains.  Redraw the circle and when finished, click the Apply to Search Criteria button.  The map closes and the Quick Search screen is again displayed.
