PPMLS UPDATE – IE7    10/20/2006

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
FROM FIRST AMERICAN MLS SOLUTIONS (MARKETLINX)

CONCERNING:  Internet Explorer 7 and the PPMLS TEMPO® System
What’s Happening
Microsoft has unexpectedly moved up the release date of Internet Explorer 7 and, as of October 19, 2006, the new version of the browser is available for download from Microsoft.com.  Microsoft has also just announced it will begin pushing out Internet Explorer 7 through its Automatic Update service to all Windows XP users on November 1st.
First American MLS Solutions is committed to fully supporting IE7 and has been rigorously testing its MLS software against the Beta and Release Candidate versions of IE7 to ensure compatibility.  However, it is very important that you be aware of a major issue we are still working on and how it may affect your members if they use IE7 to access the MLS.
The Issue
At this time, if users access TEMPO® using IE7, they may experience the following problem:  when printing a multi-page Detailed Report, report pages break at incorrect locations.  The report will still print in its entirety, but it will not be formatted correctly.
What FAMLS is Doing About It
FAMLS has almost completed a compatibility release to address this issue.  All TEMPO® accounts will receive the software update over the next few weeks.
What You Can Do In the Interim

If You Have Not Installed IE7:

  1. Your computer should be configured for automatic/critical updates daily.
  2. Beginning November 1st, you will be prompted to install the IE7 upgrade. You should select "Cancel" on the IE7 Installation Wizard.
  3. Note that you may be prompted daily to upgrade to IE7.  Continue to select “Cancel” until such time that FAMLS has notified RSC that IE7 is compatible with TEMPO®.

If You Have Installed IE7:
Windows XP users that are experiencing problems because they have already installed IE7 can roll back to IE6 by following these steps:

  1. Click “Start,” and then click “Control Panel.”
  2. Click “Add or Remove Programs.”
  3. If necessary, select “Show Updates” at the top of the dialog box.
  4. Scroll down the list and select Internet Explorer 7, and then click “Change/Remove.”
  5. Click “Yes” to confirm the removal.
  6. After rolling back to IE6, follow the directions above for "If you have not installed IE7".
NOTE FROM RSC STAFF:  At such time that FAMLS certifies that TEMPO® is compatible with IE7, we will provide a link for the IE7 download.  This link will take you to a version of IE7 that has been pre-configured with the correct settings for the TEMPO® system.
